Sixth-grade English Language Arts classes are learning to analyze literature by identifying various story elements such as plot, characters, setting, figurative language, and sensory details. Students have read several short stories and practiced identifying these elements through collaborative group activities such as sketchnotes. The first photo gallery depicts students in Ms. Vassey's classes participating in collaborative story element charts.

Sixth-grade ELA students have also been learning to cite textual evidence. One of Ms. Vassey's classes was able to participate in a special activity with Dr. Belzic, Albritton's Advanced Academic Program and Services teacher. For this activity, students analyzed a real-life court case to determine whether there was enough evidence for the plaintiff to prove his case. The second photo gallery shows highlights from this activity.
