AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination

AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a yearlong elective class in which students dedicate themselves to college readiness and awareness. AVID provides academic support by conducting in class group tutorial sessions to include tutors twice a week.  AVID reinforces reading elements, writing skills, note-taking techniques, test-taking tips, as well as the importance of time-management.  AVID also emphasizes the art of team building and organizational skills.  Students are taught critical thinking terms, along with the steps in the inquiry process.  AVID students explore the campuses of various local colleges and universities throughout the school year.
