Principal's Corner

Dear Albritton Families,

Welcome to Albritton Middle School! The Bulldog Family is committed to providing all students opportunities to succeed academically, socially, and through extra-curricular activities. Together, we will “Educate, Engage, and Empower each student to succeed in a dynamic world.”

We offer a wide range of elective classes and look forward to adding more as we grow. We have an excellent, caring staff who understands the academic and stages of development of young teenagers, and we aim to help your child through these formative years. We have knowledgeable counselors and support staff, who work with the teachers, classes, small groups, and students individually to bring about our welcoming, caring environment.

Middle school is a very dynamic environment when you have over 350 young teens discovering who they are in conjunction with social and physical changes happening all at once in their young lives. We understand these dynamics and will meet the challenge of helping these young teens transition through from elementary school to high school.

Communication between the home and school is very important. The school's digital handbook is provided to share information regarding school policies and procedures. Parents and students should review the contents together. We also encourage you to review student agendas, the PBIS tracker and assignment logs often. Weekly parent news (i.e., the Albritton Keeping in Touch) is delivered via email through our ASPEN system, and information is also shared on the DoDEA Albritton MS Facebook page. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the school to meet with a teacher or school administrator. We encourage always starting with the classroom teacher.

The partnership between home and school is the foundation for student success. With the support from you, teachers, staff, and community partners, we will make a difference in the lives of Albritton students. As we form our partnership, we wish you and our children a successful and exciting school year.

The DoDEA Americas Mid-Atlantic District has achieved a remarkable score of 353 on the Cognia Index of Education Quality (IEQ), surpassing the network average of 296, as noted in the May 21, 2025, Accreditation Engagement Review. This recognition from Cognia, a globally respected nonprofit that accredits schools for their commitment to high standards in teaching, learning, and leadership, underscores the district’s dedication to military-connected students. Excelling on Cognia’s 4-point scale with scores of 3.5 in Culture of Learning, 3.4 in Leadership for Learning, 3.3 in Engagement of Learning, and 3.3 in Growth in Learning—well above network averages—the district fosters a supportive environment with strong teacher-student relationships, innovative technology like a 1:1 Chromebook ratio, and programs such as Focused Collaboration and STEAM activities. Ranked as the top U.S. school system for 4th and 8th graders in the 2024 NAEP, DoDEA’s global curriculum and tailored support make it a standout choice for military families, a commitment echoed by Superintendent Ryan Smith as the district plans to share findings and drive further improvements.
