Ms. Michels' 7th period class celebrates collecting the most items for the school-wide drive.
National Junior Honor Society members recently hosted a necessity drive at Albritton Middle School. Students collected new, nonperishable food products and hygiene items as well as clean, gently-used clothing and blankets. The drive, which took place in December, collected over one thousand items to donate to those in need in our community.Â
The necessity drive was run as a contest between 7th period classes, with the results as follows:Â
4th place tie: Dr. Belzic's class and Ms. Quiles' class
3rd place: Mr. Cobb's class
2nd place: Dr. Hardy's class
1st place: Ms. Michels' class!
Each student in Ms. Michels' class, most of whom are pictured above, were rewarded for their outstanding efforts with a 3D-printed Bulldog keychain.Â
The NJHS Necessity Drive, which has become an annual tradition at Albritton, is hosted by the Nellie McCoy Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (pictured below). NJHS holds service to be one of its core values, and collecting these needed goods is one way that the Albritton chapter can give back to our community. Other service projects that our NJHS students participate in are campus clean ups and lost and found sorting, running hydration stations at Fort Bragg races, and helping out at other MWR events on post. Students may also complete service projects with their families. In addition to service, the other core values of NJHS are scholarship, citizenship, leadership, and character.Â
