Chalk Reflections in Math

During the Bulldog Power Hour, a time that is scheduled for enrichment and intervention opportunities for students, Ms. Elliott's math students headed outside for a life-size demonstration of graphing reflections. Students used chalk to draw large graphs on the sidewalk. One student would stand on the graph at a chosen point. The partner would choose to reflect over the X or Y axis. Finally, they would draw a figure and reflect it over either the X or Y axis. Students enjoyed this hands-on, outdoor, learning experience.
