Student designed prosthetic devices

Ms. Quiles's students recently completed a unit on designing prosthetics for animals using the engineering design process. They worked together to engineer solutions to biochemical engineering challenges as they designed a model leg for an elephant and a life vest for a dog.

Students learned the story of Winter, a dolphin with a prosthetic tail, which helped set the context for their final design challenge: designing a model prosthetic device for a fish. At the end of the unit, students presented what they learned about prosthetic devices and the Engineering Design Process.
